Charting Substellar Worlds Conference
I led and received a $80,000 grant from Heising-Simons Foundation for the Open Call for Science Events & Gathering, titled Charting Substellar Worlds': Atmospheres, Formation, & Tools for Next Decade of Discovery. This competitive grant was selected from over 70 applications across the US.
The goal of the workshop was to bring together 50 scholars (a mix of early-career and senior researchers) who work on science related to brown dwarfs to build and foster connections and collaborations. Together with the SOC (Dr. Jackie Faherty, Dr. Jonathan Fortney, Dr. Genaro Suárez, Dr. Johanna Vos, and Dr. Eileen Gonzales), I put together this brown dwarf conference. We held the conference at the Asilomar conference grounds in July 2026. The conference included a mix of invited talks, contributed talks, and poster presentations along with an un-conference. Topics ranged from the Alkali paradox on Jupiter to brown dwarf variability. It was great fun and an amazing success!
